Poem: “Table Fellowship”

View From the Front Porch Porch

"Table Fellowship"

Table fellowship
Is a beautiful thing!
Conversation and food
Makes our heart bells ring!

The blessing of sharing
A meal with friends
Reminds me of Jesus—
A great way to win!

Casual fellowship
May have its place
But doesn’t fulfill
The longing we face.

Friendship just blossoms
When mixed with good food.
God made us that way—
That’s where Jesus stood!

He ate with Zacchaeus
Of Tax Collector fame.
Zacchaeus was thrilled—
Folks feel the same.

Jesus’ disciples
Were taught at a meal.
He told them the future—
Was soon to be killed.

Hearts open with friendship—
Takes on a sweet hue.
Open hearts and home—
Will always bless you!

  1. Thank you, Martha, feelings arising from your personal large family background are very touching and instructive to an only child such as myself. In many ways well-expressed differences help form bonds which have much broader meanings. Again thank you for sharing.
